Old Tom Morris set the record for the largest margin of victory ever when he won the 1862 British Open by 13 strokes; his son, Young Tom Morris, won the 1870 British Open by 12 strokes, a margin not matched until April 13, 1997, when Tiger Woods won the Augusta Masters.
