Malcolm, Doctor David & Terry, Noel

David Malcolm was born and raised in St Andrews and the
East Neuk of Fife. A graduate of Edinburgh University, he was
a research geneticist in the USA and Europe before returning
to work in StAndrews University and latterly teaching science
at Madras College in the town. A life-long student of golf history, he was an authority on the sport and wrote numerous articles for golf magazines, periodicals and the national press. As a keen and hugely respected member of the British Golf Collectors Society, he gave regular talks, most of them unscripted. Captain of The New Golf Club, St Andrews in 1993, he was elected Life Member in 2005 for his services to the Club. David died on 4th June 2011.

Noel Terry was born in Melbourne and has lived there all his life. He began playing golf at sixteen when his family moved next to
a public golf links where the ease of local practice saw him become a competent golfer. He is a member of The Royal Melbourne Golf Club and was appointed to a committee to fit out the Club’s new clubhouse where he set up the Historic Club Collection. Noel later chaired the History 
Archives Committee and his great interest in its establishment led him to Dr David Malcolm and the search for what happened to David Strath. Noel served for six years on

the Royal Melbourne Council and chaired the Greens Committee. He had an extensive and successful business career.
