Opening of the Temple Newsam Golf 1923

Leeds: 1923. A superb and rare antique hallmarked silver (Birmingham 1912) golf related trophy that is engraved as: Opening of TEMPLE NEWSAM MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE JULY 20TH 1923. ALDERMAN SIR CHARLES HENRY WILSON LL.B. CHAIRMAN OF THE TEMPLE NEWSAM COMMITTEE. Has silver hallmarks on the base rim. Stands 5 1/2" (140mm) Weighs 216g. In excellent condition with just one very tiny 'ding' (hardly noticeable to naked eye) around base and a few light surface scratches that doesn't spoil the look of this truly wonderful trophy. No repairs! There are 2 tiny holes - one each side of the trophy that are 'attachment holes' originally to attach trophy to the base and is not damage! Has green felt on the underside. SIR CHARLES HENRY WILSON (1859-1930) was a Conservative member of Parliament (MP) for Leeds from 1923-1929. A great trophy with history from my late fathers personal collection. Displays superbly!!!
