Edinburgh: David Douglas, 1887. 186p. quarter leather cloth. One of the all time classic books in the whole Golf Library.
Upon finishing the book he showed it to his friend Robert Louis Stevenson for him to improve it, but was told there was nothing that he could improve, it was a masterpiece. Darwin said it "is the most entertaining book ever written on the foibles of the human golfer" Includes the first use of photographs to demonstrate the golf swing, using amongst others three times the swing of Old Tom Morris.
Author dedicates the book to the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfer, who he was a past Captain of.
Hard to find in its original condition the brown leather spine is often replaced due to a poor quality, this copy retains the original spine but is worn and in need of some repair. Part of the Percy Boomer golf library. Fair, contents good and clean, spine needs work, partly detached. Item #10105
