Bios and Autographs
A short Biography of all 84 Open, 52 Masters, 85 US Open and 69 USPGA champions and if known, sample autographs. Also other golfing great's of the Woman's game, Ryder Cup, Architect's, Journalists and other notable's. Attached to each Bio is a sample autograph and any relevant items we may currently have in stock.
Mark Emerson, the world's foremost expert in golf autographs, sadly passed away recently.
We remain most grateful to Mark for his generous help and advice he gave us, and for sharing with us many photographs from his revered collection of golf related genuine autographs. We have combined his photographs with some from our own collections, in order to create an extensive reference database of genuine golf related autographs.
We are delighted to make this reference data base available to all via our Bio’s and Autographs section of www.FineGolfBooks.com
By making it freely available we hope it will prove useful to collectors to cross check with their own collections, or to check prospective purchases, and maybe also in a small way inspire interest in the characters behind the autograph, and interest in the great game of golf, as Mark did through his collecting.
Authenticity of autographs is fundamental to collecting them. Our approach towards establishing confidence in autograph authenticity is multi-facetted. Confidence is the key word, and the more supporting evidence the greater the confidence, with certainty being the ultimate goal. Our first test is to check to see if the autograph looks authentic, using our Mark Emerson/FineGolfBooks database as a reference, we also carefully consider the source, the story and relationships behind the source, and any other supporting evidence of authenticity, the most obvious example being a photograph of the person in question signing the actual autograph! On top all this we provide a lifetime money back guarantee.
We would be delighted to discuss the authenticity of any individual autographs prior to purchase. Please feel free to make any enquiry.
